It was quiet. Too quiet. I think, if I ever write a book I will begin it this way, but I would always know that I stole it from a lovely 1980 documentary about Mount (volcano) St. Helens. I should have guessed that the eruption would have inspired a fair bit of folk music. And I really shouldn't have been surprised that 4 college kids and a camera, tromped, Blair Witch style, through the creepy steaming landscape within hours of the eruption. Their drama as a local sheriff cited them and sent them slogging miserably back the way they came...
