Yay! Freecycle scored me some complimentary Rose Campion plants! To pick them up I am instructed that I must, among other things:
"Go about 1.8 miles, look for 1st covered bride. Turn right, go over bridge. Wave to cows. Berta takes a sharp left about 300 yards after the bridge. At the one lane road, make sure to wait if there's a car there - it really IS a 1 lane road. Pass yellow farmhouse on the right, big barn on the left. At the fork, go right. Go up gnarly hill, when road turns from pavement to dirt, we are 7th house on the left. Buddha and earth flag in the drive."
Well, that doesn't help much, but I suppose it does distinguish from the places with the Tibetan prayer flags. :)

Date: 2008-03-16 05:56 pm (UTC)I live in a small town that has changed a lot in the past decade, and I always feel sorry for anyone who's just moved here because everyone gives directions centered around landmarks that no longer exist. "You know where Massey's hardware was? Just turn there and go until you get to the Chinese place that used to be Brannan's Drive-Thru. You can't miss it." Heh.
Congrats on your flower score!
P.S. Neighbor children helped me pick thyme and rosemary to use in last night's dinner, and my cilantro and basil seeds are sprouting. Squee!

Date: 2008-03-16 06:05 pm (UTC)\o/ Squee!! So glad you tried basil. It grows so easy from seed. It astounds me when they charge as much for basil plants as the perennial herbs. This year I planted Cinnamon, Thai, Red Rubin and Some Other Variety. The sad truth is I grow them just because they smell good and look pretty. *shifty eyes* I don't think I've ever used them in cooking. Cilantro is yummy, I love it in guacamole.

Date: 2008-03-16 06:21 pm (UTC)My husband is a cilantro whore, so I'm hoping it will do well. (And that the cats would quit trying to mow down the teensy cilantro babies. Move over to the catnip, y'all!)
