BN: Someone posted a Google review about the Mister's Computer Super Genius home business stating that we had two large unfixed dogs that repeatedly terrorized the neighborhood, that our household included avid patrons of local drug houses, and that we shouldn't be trusted with anyone's home or business. Thanks to Google's approximate street numbering, I think they were confusing us with the house next door. (May she RIP) At least they had the courtesy to concede that they had never actually done business with him.

GN: The review has been taken down! Yay!

GN: I can haz solar! When the sun shines, the electric meter she do run backwards-eth. I'm SO excited!

Do these solar panels make my garage look phat? )

You know how I like to tattoo everything but myself? My garage needs a ancient central asian tattoo!. I think that non-working door is a blank canvas that just cries out for a mural. Plus, while we were working back there, I heard one of the guys in the apartment building across the alley complaining about the restraining order that his girlfriend got against him for no reason at all! I'll bet he needs cheering up. A beautiful mural would be just the thing, plus I can tell that he likes tattoos. One of his tatts was the letters F.I.A. I'll bet that stands for Feminism Is Awesome!

And I even took pictures. Plus my garden in August. I've failed to take pics at the beginning of Sept. and Oct. Ah well.

Tomorrow, I must somehow, without aid of a time machine, convince the building center manager that they really did load only 14 bundles of shingles onto the truck. There's nothing wrong with 14 bundles except that it is significantly too few to finish the project, and also that they charged me for 18 bundles. But today, I nailed shingles to the roof! It's surprisingly satisfying work. I didn't want to stop in order to go to my meeting. I didn't get back before dark, but it seems that the roof is all but finished now. I hope to take pictures.

I made the mistake of asking Casino Orphan about his parents. I was trying to find out if they were anywhere in the neighborhood, or if they had just deposited him here for the day and gone about their business. "Is your dad around?" CO: "My mom told me that he died." Me: ! "I'm very sorry! Is your mom around?" CO: *head shaking* It was clear he was uncomfortable with my questions and I was sorry I asked. It doesn't really matter.

The Mister and I started the project at 11 a.m. Sunday and over the next eight hours, I can safely say that we had all of the fun that removing five layers of roofing material can offer to a couple in love. Well, not quite. "Wouldn't it be fun if there were an earthquake while we were up here?" The Mister said. Five layers! Rolled roofing is much lighter than shingles as it turns out, so five layers is more quirky than crazy dangerous. The Mister was skeptical about using the tenant's truck, but it worked out well on a number of counts. Not least that it is still full of the old roofing material today, and tenant is just fine with it and encouraged us to wait until the next weekend. It's safe to say that none of the other pick-up having folks we could have petitioned would be so sanguine. We had all the best intentions, but the job was bigger than expected. The tenant was very helpful, not least by not offering to get up on the roof, and I provided him with entertainment. I couldn't figure out what the menfolk were grinning about when I inched up to the edge and tossed over an armload of old roof. Doesn't everyone stay at least four feet back? By the end of the job I was much more confident, and I had all the satisfaction of being useful to the point of being essential. I did nearly half the job and as it was, the Mister just got the new roofing felt in place before the first rain storm of Autumn began in earnest.
