Yup, it's that time of year again. :D Lettuce and watering toddlers ahead.

Yay! My lettuce patch. The lettuce is so pretty to me that I almost hate to attack it with a pair of scissors. The red flowers are marigolds. I love marigolds. They are my big exception to my general dislike of double flowers. Even so, I don't like the poofy ones. It's the truth. I'm a big ol' marigold snob.

you say lettuce, and i get all excited and think it's for the koi! not that your rows of lettuce are not veritable platonic forms of lettuce, of course. not to mention that little platonic form of nephew you have going there. :)

Mmm... those ruby lettuces look especially tasty. And you've got quite the handsome helper there.

Awww! He's so CUUUUUUUUUUUUTE!

Your lettuces are beautiful. Now I see why you didn't want to cut them! But oh, they're gonna be so buttery and taaaasty! Salad time! :D

Thanks! *pets my pretty lettuce*

The one with the muddy toes is one of my three sons. :) It's nice when he's being helpful.

I hope they are tasty. For some reason the strong color makes me think they might be bitter some how, but I could not resist it. I will try them out very soon.

Yeah, the helper kinda makes the garden complete, even if he isn't always quite helpful. :)

Aww! Lovely lettuce and an even lovelier boy. Look at that focus! I so admire the way children are absorbed by a task. Serious play.

Your little boy is so handsome and so helpful.

Is that butter crunch lettuce? We grow it in pots and cutting only seems to increase production. Good eating. Is the wire protection from rabbits or deer?

Sweet photos.

Thanks! Yes, they can be so solemn and serious about their appointed tasks. :)

Thanks! I don't know what kind of lettuce it is exactly, but I like the idea of cutting only increasing production. This is the first year I have tried to grow it. :)

The wire is actually to discourage neighborhood cats from using the open areas as a litter box. I think the chicken wire works partly by invading their personal space. They could go under it with no effort at all.
