I tried to run a comb through my hair this morning and was completely unable. It was just that kind of day yesterday. The drop your new paperback in the bathwater, store closes just as you decide to make an ice cream run, put shampoo on your head and then forget to wash it kind of day. A few days ago, I called our un-motivated prospective landlord to see what was up. I talked to her husband and it seems the house was put on the market and is now in escrow. So it seems we don't have a rental. You'd think she would have mentioned this to my mom when she dropped the application off less than a week ago, but that's business I guess. If the deal fell through, she would have a renter lined up or something, or maybe she's just that way. In any case, we don't have anything lined up and are feeling unpleasantly at loose ends.
I was even artistically thwarted. I understand now why I didn't see any black in those books on polymer clay. Black clay is the bitch offspring of a rabid skunk and a porcupine. I'm trying to make a pin for my dear, sainted mother, a good deed if there ever was one. She gave away a pin that she missed, three monkeys: 'See No Evil, Hear No Evil...' etc. Since Mom's name is Mona Lisa, I thought I would be just too, too clever and modify "La Giaconda" to the same theme, and incorporate the images into a pin. I tried to make a black frame for my images, but it was frustrating work and didn't really look right for it besides. I thought the image part would be the hard part.

Date: 2002-01-31 01:25 pm (UTC)I'm also glad to hear that I'm not the only one who occasionally forgets to wash out the shampoo. Yeargh. I hope that today has been better for you. :)
I'm kind of surprised that you're having difficulty finding a place to rent in HoCo... whenever I looked, I was under the impression that there were plenty of places, if you could afford to pay first/last/deposit, which I never could. Of course, I was usually looking for student ghettoes and had no money to speak of, so if your standards are somewhat higher than mine were at the time, I can understand that you might run into some trouble. At worst, though, you might have to put up with a crummy apartment on a monthly lease until summer; when the students (go back to Capistrano... *ahem* sorry) get out of HSU, that tends to open up a lot of room in Humboldt housing.
I like Fimo, but I have a hard time with it; the "soft Fimo" is somewhat easier for me to work with. My Fimo experimenting, like my necklace-making stuff, artwork, writing, personal communications, and just about everything else have fallen into a big pit recently, with this whole work-and-school-and-no-time-to-sleep thing. :P
