My area was in the focus of the cover story for National Geographic this month, complete with sexy five-page centerfold. We're all aflutter up here 'Behind the Redwood Curtain'. Local businesses are alert for the possibility, nay, the likelihood of increased tourism. It tickles me that NG's explorer-in-residence, whose last big project was a transect of the central African rain forest, tramped through here. I find myself in awe of what still stands and ashamed of what has been lost. *kicks that nasty Hurwitz guy* Nasty robber baron, corporate raider guy. I love the way we lecture other countries about their rain forests. We've already wiped out 95% of ours. Nevertheless, what's left will truly take your breath away.

I am so lucky! And the whole coast part of the 'Coast Redwoods' thing is like gilding the lily. Just amazing.
