I cut my finger whilst washing dishes this afternoon, so I'm cheering myself out of my pout by futzing around on the internet. This morning I went outside and found this:

Is it glowing for you? This is one of those flowers that's so intense it seems a little fluorescent. We've been calling it the crazy flower. I'm glad I took pics because the flowers either last only a little time or I let the plant get too dry because the flower was looking a little wilted by afternoon. I'll be trying to grow this one again next year, yes-siree-bob.

It is a poppy. The flowers are rather large, too. The second image is only about half an inch larger than life.

It's pretty wild. I can see why they named it for decadence.

It doesn't look real, it's so shiny. Gorgeous though, I bet bees love it.

Definitely a surreal flower. Apparently, one can tell when a bee has loved it because all of the petals promptly drop to the ground. I guess as soon as it's got what it wants, it totally lets its looks go.
