What does one wear to a sea kayaking class that takes place at a community pool? I think I will bring a swimsuit, but I have no wetsuit or other gear. 11YO thinks they may provide gear. Cross your fingers for us. I was feeling so adventurous when I signed up.

The light is radiating from the end of the tunnel. I volunteered to edit a book and then have it bound. This is worse than betaing badfic in some ways and better in others. This is technically work I would enjoy, but the job turned out to be so big (about 400 pages if it were a trade paperback) and the deadline so tight that it's eaten up three full days of my time. If I were independently wealthy and had no children, hobbies, pets or relationships then I could have had a grand time immersing myself in the project. Or if I were being paid, that would have helped a lot I confess. Still, it's a worthy project and fascinating topic if you're interested in women's suffrage and grassroots political activism.

History really is written by the victors historians though. I exercised my editorial privilege on this bit that was listed among the very, very important events occurring in that time period.

"A new member and future president Vicky Ego-Much is mentioned for the first time in the newsletter."

(Name changed to protect the self-interested, who also happened to co-author the book.)

If anyone calls me on it I'll just say that it wasn't fair to all the other presidents whose first appearance in the annals was somehow overlooked. I just about keeled over when it read it, but I'm easily overset.

i used to go sea kayaking (though mostly on rivers and lakes) with a group of friends.; it's a lot of fun. I wouldn't say I had any real talent but enjoyed it.

If your pool is indoors I'd wear a swimsuit topped by board shorts or something like that that's quick-dry. Tevas or keens or something like that on your feet; you need to be able to grip the foot pedals for the rudder. I'd wear a rash-guard type of t-shirt too. You'll wear a kayaking life jacket; it's a special kind as it has to be cut to let you paddle.

Basically if you're indoors you probably don't need to worry about wetsuits. I'd wear something quick-dry and non-chaffing if it gets wet. But a rashguard really helps with chaffing if your top- half is soaked!

Good advice, thanks! The kayaking class was interesting. Much more time spent upside down than I was expecting.
