Aside from all the things that can go wrong, I'm really looking forward to having some space between myself and my nearest neighbors. Try to focus on the positive here. Much more garden space, possibly visiting critters even (carefully secure any acquired poultry). More butterflies. Perhaps even room for a small horse or two. Definitely too weenie to be truly rural. Don't want anything I have to milk or butcher, deliberately avoiding harsh winters and still plan to be grocery store dependent. On the other hand, I expect we'll be fixing most stuff ourselves, and as power-grid independent as we can afford to be.
I kinda wish Orson would email me. Something about discussing the latest Star Trek series is kind of comforting. Probably just 'cause it reminds of my former life. Fall was always my favorite season there. Not too hot, not too cold. I told Alan that we ought to spend fall in the Rockies, winter in Hawaii and the rest in Humboldt County. Whatever response he gave to that one was more than it deserved.
Looking forward to our trip down to HC. Excited about ditching the munchkin with his grandma while we check out the Harry Potter movie and promised Episode II trailer. I so hope they did a good job with the movie. From the Vanity Fair article it sounds like they did their best to be absolutely faithful to the book. While I can usually accept movie makers wanting to do their own artistic vision of literary material with peace and tranquility, Harry's just too darn sacred damn it. I'm about ready for a night out in any case.
