I spent most of yesterday being trained. Upside: I'll actually have work to do. Downside: The mystery is removed of what my work will actually entail. Payment processing ladies and gentlemen. All day, every day, to be periodically relieved by envelope stuffing and mail runs. De checks come in and de checks go out. Also I got cranked at by my big boss. It was after five and the person training me had left to try and catch someone before they left and I laid my head down on my arms for a minute or two. A few minutes later my boss comes in, at which time I am sitting up and asks me if I am OK. When I reply that I am fine, she tells me that someone had peeked in the training room, seen me with my head down and told her as much. I then got a speech about how napping on the clock is inappropriate and if I'm done with the work I've been assigned I should find someone to give me more, etc., etc. Now this would have just been annoying, certainly I ought to have remembered that that sort of pose is never appropriate in the workplace, but under the circumstances I burst into tears as soon as she left, and had great difficulty getting it under control (double damn hormones). Thank goodness it was the end of the day so when my trainer returned I was pretty much able to gather up my stuff and skedaddle, hopefully before she noticed anything wrong. I don't know if I was as lucky with the cashier at the grocery store, but he was smart enough not to say anything. I had a major headache by the time I got home where I discovered that my mom had preceded me, and Alan was limp from a bout of food poisoning. Whee! Thank goodness it was Friday at least.

I think I'd like to go horseback riding for my birthday.
