New Thing(s) I Learned:

Human fleas are the only fleas of suitable temperment for flea circuses. A female donkey is formally known as a jennet. You can make much better time starting out at 4 a.m. than at some saner hour. Tolkien's dialogue, while appropriate to his 'traditional epic told 'round the hearth during the long, cold winter' style, is just obnoxious. The Russians loved Mark Twain.

Hmmm, my long neglected journal. Am I feeling withdrawn, or just being broody? Probably some of both.
If I had three wishes I think I would deploy them as follows:

1) I would wish for all species of blood-sucking insects to become spontaneously extinct;
2) I would wish that for any woman to ovulate, she and at least one other person would have to wish for it very hard, and click their heels together three times;
3) and, uh, a million dollars.
