New Thing(s) I Learned:	Honda warranties seat belts for life.

Had our last appt. with the midwives yesterday. Aidan weighed in at 12 lbs. 13 oz. They all seemed to think he was thriving. Further, they dominated him the whole time giving me a break. :) Tanya and Rachel have not had babies of their own. I get the impression that they're baby hungry. I genuinely wish them luck in finding a good partner. If good doctor's wives are hard to find, good midwife's husbands are probably even harder. [Connor wants Alan to chase him through the house and try and stick stickers on him. Alan is obliging, much to his delight.] I brought cookie dough and we had fresh cookies. I printed up pictures of my funky placenta which they loved. It's funny to see them go ga-ga over something that pretty much everyone else in the developed world would be grossed out by. It looks like something from an Alien movie. I also looked up a cool mermaid picture in the internet and made a new sign for Jan. I figure, if she has to share her bathroom with the hordes, her sign can at least match her decor. She really seemed to like it. And finally, I passed out hundred dollar bills as we were leaving. Good to appreciate the midwives. If they didn't take on the late nights and the liability and the low pay, my life would be the worse for it.

Alan has been getting calls from the county to interview for jobs. He's been turning them down. The first time he did this he wondered if he had done the right thing as soon as he put the phone down. We talked about it on and off for a couple of days. Six months ago he would have jumped at it. Today he turned another one down and I looked at him and said, "I'm having that feeling again." He glanced at the clock, "What? The feeling like you wish I wouldn't be getting home for three more hours and you've been by yourself with the kids all day?" We both snickered.
