Bleh. This year is just one cold after another for the kids, and now am I laid low. Which brings me to this question. If Frodo was wearing his mithril shirt, how did Shelob sting him in the guts? 6yo abandoned me and the Extended DVD Edition just before things got all smoochy between Aragorn (son of sombody, bearer of the sword of Elendil, who has finally taken a shower) and his elf princess, and that was the perfect opportunity for me to skip back to watch the part where he sings.
A and I have started watching Buffy Season 1. So, when did Angel turn into his dad? He was so puckish and ambiguously good in the Season 1. He and Spike would have had a great time together (and apparently did). When did he get all preachy and stuffy?
Took the cat to the vet on Monday. Jones tested negative for FLV and FIV, and has a clean bill of health except for ear mites. Things have changed a great deal since I was a child. Used to be that getting your pet vaccinated was the height of responsible pet ownership. Now I am expected to brush its teeth daily, irrigate its ears, and install microchips. When I tell grandmother about this, and the vet bill, she shakes her head. She comes from a 'barn cat' school of pet ownership. I have to say that $168 is a lot to pay for the right to clean out the thing's litter box for the next 15+ years and be periodically spattered with ear goo, but I was not hard-hearted enough to take it to the pound. I have decided to focus on the cat's happiness instead. It is no longer hungry, desperate, flea-bitten and friendless. $168 is pretty cheap for a Cinderella ending.
Garden: I haven't planted any berry plants yet! But, I have made progress in clearing out where I plan to plant. Made the happy discovery that my electric shredder/mulcher shreds leaves. :| For some silly reason I thought it only did sticks, even though it says 'garden shredder' on the side. I will be using it a lot more in the future I think. I dug up one of my vegetable beds and found it was full of tree roots. *scowl* That is not helpful. But also a few handfuls of carrots for lunch today. :) Purple carrots. Also, some daffodils coming up. I think they are off a season or two. It's not even quite winter yet, right?
