Holy crap! Jimmy Cameron does it again. It is spectacularly gorgeous, it is expertly crafted entertainment, it has big, blue aliens with pointy ears (if any of them had had white hair I would not be typing now. I would still be lying twitching on the floor of the theater). I'm probably going to embarrass myself with this, but this IS the Star Wars for the next generation. It is also extremely political. Godless, liberal, Hollywood has fired off a huge volley my friends, and I for one, am feeling the shock and awe. I could tell you about the delicious Marty Stu-ness, and probably a number of other things, but I just don't care. I think I'm going to go out to eat, and then watch it again in 3D...

Why yes, I am feeling a bit better. Actually had an interest in doing things today.

I foolishly did not get tickets to the 3D showing upon leaving the matinee and it sold out while we were at dinner, and so here I am in my underpants, checking out the internet buzz about Avatar while I wait for A to acquire the South Park take on it: Dancing With Smurfs. I can't wait. It seems that folks can't decide whether the blue folks are stand-ins for the Afghans/Iraqis, oppressed folks anywhere in the third world today, Native Americans back when, African slaves back when, or the Irish (back when). My vote's for Afghans, with a generous helping of oppressed folks anywhere in the third world. I wish I thought it would make a difference either way.
