Nov. 9th, 2011 11:16 pmWe recently watched Mr. Popper's Penguins. Mr. Popper is a driven real estate executive with a broken marriage and estranged offspring. Penguins heal him. But before that happened, the kiddos and I were astounded at how much he lied! He lied like a forest cat! Later that day we thought we were very clever.
8YO (from the living room): 'Mom, come check this out.'
ME (in the middle of cooking): 'Can't, sorry. I'm a busy corporate executive who is always working and never has time for her kids.'
8YO: ...
8YO: '11YO, come check this out.'
11YO (also in the kitchen, messing around with dominoes.): 'I'm a corporate executive's son, I'm busy having social problems and trouble with girls.'
8YO (from the living room): 'Mom, come check this out.'
