Especially since I am chairing. The weather's been sunny and relatively warm so I've been digging in the garden. I pulled out all the perennials in the main flower bed, fluffed up the dirt, reinserted rooted, fresh-looking chunks of the ones I want to keep, plus some new recruits, tossed a couple of handfuls of organic fertilizer and lime over the top, a dusting of chicken manure (I learned my chicken manure lesson after the debacle of a couple of years ago where I killed plants, and turned their replacements into monsters by excessive application), replaced the soaker hose and then a layer of mulch over the top. It's looking much better and is almost like having a new garden area to play with. I also planted a bunch of annual seeds, CA poppies, etc. in the dahlia beds with the idea that I will pull them out as the dahlias get going. I hope it works. I've gotten two of my dahlia tuber orders. The brown chunks of root are not very inspiring, but I've got them settling in potting mix out on the back porch. I'm nervous to trust them out to the cold soggy ground until they're more mature. And now I'm late enough so I'm off! Happy Spring!

Note from me for when my petty tyrannies become the center around which the universe revolves,

Please discontinue immediately:

1. Ceremonial hand/palm slicing. No more!! I swear I see this at least once a month, if not weekly.

2. The use of any sentence ending in "the human heart" that does not involve anatomy. I.e. " The Impossible is a journey to the core of the human heart." BAD. The movie was GOOD, phenomenal in every way, but wow, just as hard to watch as one might expect.
