The Mister and I were among about 10 folks in the complex's largest theater for the Extended Edition LotR Marathon. Not too surprising since we had a little trouble buying tickets as even the employees didn't seem to know about it—and also for other reasons too no doubt, but it gave it the feel of a private screening. We live three blocks from the theater so we came home for the hour intermissions. Peter Jackson had a little message that was supposed to play in front of each movie. It was sweet. For each movie, he thanked us very much for coming to see his crazy-long flicks on the big screen. It was as if he were thanking us for reading his fanfic. The first movie started at 10, and we left the theater for the last time at 11:30 that night. My mom had the kids for a sleepover. The kids were perfect and slept all night, as she reported later in tones of awe. I promised them each five dollars if they did not wake her, but that's just between me and the darling little angels.

Check out this bad boy dahlia!

Is it sexy ugly or just huge and weird? I think it's going to be fun.

I think I'm done ordering for 2013. I made a Pinterest board of the varieties, and a few other dahlia boards besides... It's been great fun.

Me too! The hybridizer seems vaguely apologetic, calling it an 'arranger's flower' because it doesn't really fit in the show categories, but I don't have an interest that side of things.

The marathon sounds wonderful, especially because you could go in and out. I would have fallen asleep if I couldn't walk around a bit between the movies.

The dahilia is awesome! Just slap on a pair of eyes and you have a new Muppet!

Now I'm worried someone will make a vest out of it.
