If friends and lovers love us for who we are, it's a bit harder to sustain in sickness and adversity because we become different, often less cuddly, people due to these things, if we're really unlucky we may become unrecognizable. On the other hand, I think it becomes more likely the longer the relationship because we can love the person for who they have been. I don't believe in 'love at first sight'. Love to me is sticking by a person when the going gets shitty, and that just doesn't happen after one enchanted evening.
