I've been entertaining myself with Jane Austen during my illness, such as it is. Last night I talked Alan into renting the movie for me and was forced to disillusion him as to the book's contents. 'I'm afraid this scene where she uses lesbian eroticism to seduce Edmond's affections (with excellent effect), was not in the book.' 'I really don't recall this scene where she gets caught in a rain storm and has to strip down to her thin white cotton undergarments [soaked] and beyond.' 'Oh dear, there was definitely no kissing, no sexual tension between Edmond and Fanny and no overt opium use.' Alan concluded that there was really no point in bothering with the book, but I like Jane Austen. My best Christmas gift this year was the 300 min. (Alan persists in misstating this as 300 hrs.) BBC miniseries of Pride and Prejudice, which, in spite of his teasing, he not only got for me but watched with me in 3 hr chunks. I'm almost embarrassed to admit to the other book on my list. Imagine a book written by Rita Skeeter's nice but not-so-bright twin during her college years. It was bad. But, speaking of Rita Skeeter, there is at least a release date for the next Harry Potter.
Oasis Birth Tubs got an email, which is exciting enough... from a doctor enquiring about tub rentals at Mad River! Yes! Fame and fortune are mine! She wants me to attend the Perinatal Committee meeting next Thursday to discuss getting the tubs approved. I can honestly say I haven't got a thing to wear. This is the sort of emergency upon which my mother thrives, however.
