I actually went and worked out last night. The main studio was already occupied by a couple of guys who had improvised a charming mix of dodge ball and rugby with the exercise balls. I waited around for a few minutes while they circled me, panting and faking me out periodically with the balls, feeling increasingly like a cat watching an approaching pair of half-grown hounds. I can't stand half-grown hounds, which are probably at least equally likely to be completely harmless and friendly, so long as one is safely up a tree. I don't really know where I developed this instinctive fear and dislike, probably too good an acquaintance with bullying jocks in elementary school. I went and got my boom box and moved into the second studio, carefully closing the connecting door with none of my real feelings.

I didn't really feel like working out. My throat and sinuses and everything else had gotten me down. I decided to try a pep talk while I did the warm-up. "Quit yer whining soldier. Forget beached whales and elephant seals, YOU are one - solid - muscle." At this point the connecting door between the studios bursts open and the pair dash through it pummeling one another with balls and finally attempting a flying tackle. GRRRRRR! The first one got away, but I chased the other one back through the connecting door, slammed and locked it. Humph! Other than that the workout went fairly well, and I felt a whiff of returning vitality. I've been making use of the pep talk thing since. I find that though it doesn't make me feel like one solid muscle (a midwife actually said this to me once, and, as can be imagined, I've remembered it with almost as much regularity as fondness ever since) it does cheer me, especially now that I've added a bit about being a sexual powerhouse.
