Oppression

I don't know why I seem to think oppression would somehow be a broadening influence. Somehow, I expect people of color to be a bit less racist perhaps, gay people to be less phobic of other sexual preferences. This is silly, as I am often reminded. People are just people and the oppressed are merely less powerful, and nothing else more or less.

Sad, but true. This kind of reminds me of something funny though. My niece said something the other day about her BF's Brother that made my sis and I choke we laughed so hard.

Neice: He grabbed my butt, I didn't know somebody disabled could be so funny.

Me: Is that because you don't consider me disabled or because you never saw me grab anyone? Personally, I think this guy probably needs a slap.

Niece: That's what his brother said.

I know what you mean. I have a gay wicca co-worker, and I'm somehow always surprised that she doesn't magically rise above the pettiness. Her diatribe on thanksgiving had me quoting "Pangs" though so it wasn't a total lose this year!
