A couple things that niggled me
Apr. 17th, 2007 07:53 pmSummer Knight, Jim Butcher. He killed the ugly chick. I can't believe he offed the homely, mossy haired, stout girl. I mean, I get that pretty much everyone being pretty and attempting to seduce the main character of average looks is part of the urban fantasy thing, but I can't believe Butcher finally had a female character that he didn't describe in loving tones, and she's the one good guy that croaks in the final battle. How about if the stout chick gets rescued and becomes the new Summer Princess, and the willowy one with the pretty green hair goes kamikaze? Would it have hurt him that much?
300 OK, is it just me, or are the mysteriously straight and non-slave holding Spartans saving the world from assorted queers and hot girl-on-girl action? Happily, South Park has already skewered them nicely. Aside from that, I am somewhat embarrassed to report that I found the film quite entertaining.
