Me: Hi, could you write down the name 'Tim Flannery' for me?
A: How's it spelled?
Me: Two Ns E R Y
A: Would you like me to write down his phone number too?
Me: *long-suffering sigh* No, I'll just put that in my cell phone, thanks.

I have called A well into hour 2 at Borders, trying half-heartedly to find something to spend a $25 gift card on. If I could spend between $100 and $200 on books a month, I could probably pick up a stack quite easily. But the complex task of figuring out the best way to spend $25 is beyond me. The book must be a) unlikely to be found in a used book store or on Paperback Swap, and b) deemed likely to be a slightly better read than the thousands of books in the store which seem interesting. Finally, I settle on a travel anthology. It wins by virtue of the notion that I will meet many new authors for the price of one, and because I am in the travel section when I decide I'd much rather be home with A, watching a movie.

If you could buy one book a year, what would you buy?

I'd buy a new life during which I could buy many more books a year than just one!!!!!!!!!

Alas, it is too late for me to marry rich, I'm too lazy for med school, too math-savvy for the lottery, and I'd rather spend only $60 a year on books than get a real job. There's always Paperback Swap and the library.

Time for me to get cracking on that vampire romance novel. :D

*is a smartass*

Seriously though, if I could only get one book a year, the annual Dresden book would be in my hot little hands, each and every April. The next one is Small Favor, and it comes out in about 7 more months. I've already got it pre-ordered. :D
*is crazy, too*

Also?

Heh, I can see how the Dresden books would rate that. :D Whatever my gripes with Harry and his issues, he is a very real character to me. My problem is that I want Jamses to read them to me. So I have been holding out for the audio versions. :/ Read moar faster Jamses!!

Thank you so much hon. I'm having one of my bestest b-days so far.

*squishes you back*
