Today is carrot planting day! It's marked on my calendar. I should also plant basil, and repaint the 'Lotor' planter so I can start using it. *shakes head* Did you all know that baby asparagus plants (and maybe grown up ones for all I know) look like fennel? They do! I learned this yesterday.

Yes, the adult ones look like fennel as well. Did you know that it takes three years for the plants to mature enough to harvest. Or so I've heard.

It's true about the three years for the bed to be productive, but then the plants can last for about 20 years after that.

Hee! Mine said, "Mere. Live the pleasure." Now I kinda' feel like I should be smoking a menthol cigarette while sailboarding or something.

*sigh* I'm always so shocked when B. exhibits some behavior that I perceive as a narrow-minded, stereotypically male response to something. I guess that sometimes I forget he's a dude! I have to admit that the good husband and father stuff goes a long way towards tolerance of the occasional blot.

I thought mine was very apt. :) Heh, the sailboarding would probably help with the 'no visible smoke' issue.

I know!? It is a bit of a shocker when they have those dude moments, but I'm sure he feels the same when I'm in 'weak and feminine' mode. But, verily, the overall package is nice indeed.

They grow a lot of asparagus in eastern Oregon where my folks used to live. Yeah it does kinda look like fennel now that you mention it!

When I pointed the fennel thing out to the checkers at the health foody store where I bought them, they had to pass it around and exclaim over it. :)
