L/A Fanart In Progress
Jun. 11th, 2009 07:58 pmI have drawn about a bajillion horses/unicorns/pegusi in my life, most before the age of 12. Then I think I switched to dragons for a bit, and dabbled in some painting. Then I had to do things like make money, and attend classes that cost money, and that was pretty much the end of that.
Anyway, Lotor dresses a bit like an villain from some sort of B fantasy movie, so I thought he would look just fine on a destrier.

Date: 2009-06-12 03:28 am (UTC)The horse is supposed to be quite big, but Lotor is kinda making it look like a pony. O.o That's horse No. 2. I erased and redrew cuz the first attempt was too small I think. The line at his collar bone is about where most rider's heads are when riding.

It's based directly on the wedding scene, but I'm not quite happy with Lotor yet. Plus he really needs a face. :P

Date: 2009-06-12 03:27 am (UTC)The horse's eyes are amazing, and I love the suggestion of the tail -- it's so fluid. And the contrast of the preciseness of the tack and bridle. And Lotor's broad shoulders *ahem*

Date: 2009-06-12 03:32 am (UTC)Hypnotoad commands you. O.O
I still have those dragons. ;)
Something I learned about art a while back, and still have to remind myself occasionally: you don't have to do it for a living, or even do it that much, or spend any money on it really. Just do it when you get the urge, and keep some basic tools on hand. I lecture from a position of knowing whereof I speak and not actually doing it all that much, so I guess I'm speaking from a position of fail. :P

Date: 2009-06-12 03:51 am (UTC)I agree that it wouldn't be hard to continue with. But it's also true that many of my opportunities disappeared, no more long bus rides or boring classes. But, my kids draw a great deal, at least the eldest does. I'm trying to relearn some of my fearlessness from him.
