My previous post was just getting way too heavy! Slaughterhouses? Crib death?? I decided to delete it before Nazis came into it. Still, I'm glad for those that responded and for the respectful discussion that ensued. Be excellent to each other!

Eh. I wrote a tongue-in-cheek, Colbert-style, post about the efforts of an anti-meat consumer group to get cancer warning labels for processed meats. Sadly, the modern meat industry has become a source of horrific cruelty. Modern methods and copious antibiotics have allowed companies to ignore the most basic needs of living things (and also adopt some practices that are quite nasty) in the pursuit of mass production, maximum efficiency, and profit. The details are not hard to find, but I won't trouble you with them here. I wrote about how these 'cow kissers' don't actually care about people's health, but have a secret agenda. I finished with saying that these anti-meat folks need to get over it. It's just animals and foreigners (mostly) that are suffering anyway.

I truly think that most people would demand change if only they could see what goes on.

Not exactly cheery. :P I feel strongly about it, and it was like a big cloud hanging over my journal.

Sorry, I didn't mean to make you rehash it, but thank you for doing so. I agree that "horrific" is a pretty appropriate word. Actually, there is a semi-famous autistic (asperger's) person who felt so strongly about this issue that they designed and patented a more humane cow butchering process.

I'm glad to have people on my flist who feel strongly about things. I'm also glad that you seem to be in a good place about the discussion. LJ is strange sometimes (at least, for me, it is) - a private journal in a public place.
