Incredible Journey
Oct. 9th, 2009 08:48 amA was coming out of a client's place the other day and ran into a woman pursued by a very friendly cat. They were in a more or less residential area at that point, but the woman was concerned that the cat would follow her into the downtown area where there were busy streets. So A put it in the car and brought it home. My mom, who is not pro-pet (which is a laugh when you see how she dotes on her hens) shook her head. She had advised against replacing our late cat. "It's not our cat," I insisted. "We're just trying to find its real home." "Are you feeding it?" "Yes. Of course we are." "Then it's your cat."
But, last night my Craigslist ad bore fruit, and the cat was reunited with its original owner. He seemed almost overcome with emotion, though the cat was less than thrilled with the pet carrier he brought with him and wouldn't go in. A happy ending. Too bad my mom's phone was busy last night so I couldn't tell her 'I told you so.' Or maybe not, because the cat was back at our back door this morning meowing for kibble. :|
