The Spin

4yo sprang into bed with me this morning. "I'm back!" he announced, and then gave me the full impact of his big baby blues at very close range. "I will share chocolate milk with you," he said with a little smile. A master bestowing a gift on a beloved acolyte. "Really!? You will share chocolate milk with me?" I affect wonder and gratitude. "Yeah. Let's do it!!" He vaults back out of bed, bound for the kitchen, leaving me to trail in his wake. I assemble the "gree-ents" and 4yo finds a suitable vessel and combines them in an utterly absorbed fashion, carefully urging some stray grains of vitamin/chocolate mix from the rim with one finger tip, making sound effects under his breath.

The perfect accompaniment to sharing chocolate milk is apparently cat videos on YouTube. I find a likely playlist and set it to run while I read email. I learn that there are a lot of 'cat on a treadmill' videos on YouTube, and also that there a number of videos--a narrow-minded person might say too many--of assorted substances being flushed down the toilet.

Then it's time to be a cat himself. I may be his mom cat. A little later, still in cat mode, he comes dashing into the bedroom. "Dad almost saw me!" "Dad almost saw the baby cat?" "Yes!" "And what would happen if Dad saw the baby cat?" "He will claw him with his claws. [demonstrates with curled fingers] He's kind of a ninja."

*lol* What a sly little fellow! "Gree-ents" is a fabulous word.

Also? There must be something in the air, because I watched that very cat video myself this morning at work. Damned odd, because this is not a normal pastime for me. Also? Kittehz are ridiculously adorable. See? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Bmhjf0rKe8) I've been undone by teh kewt.

I just learned that one a few days ago. I had to keep asking him to repeat it until I finally translated it.

Hee! That one was on the playlist too. I also liked this one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhrS3axiPEE) mostly for the box escapades at the end.

He has learned that cute pays dividends. It would have been a lot easier to say no if he'd asked for the chocolate milk.

I'm so fortunate. :)

Well enough, thanks for asking. :) I'm glad you seem to be on the mend as well. Thanks so much for the holiday card.

So, should I run not walk to PaperbackSwap.com for the Outlander series? Is it something special?

The 'Outlander' series books are seriously addictive. Huge! Each one is almost 1,000 pages but reads very quickly. I keep it on the kitchen table cause it's too big to carry around.

The books include time-travel, people you care enough about to keep on reading, lots and lots of adventures and historical events and very easy reading. Read them in order if you want to try them.

Don't you have a good library system out there? I can order books on-line and pick them up at my home branch. [No cost and no hassle.]]

I'll have to check them out. :) The kids will be very impressed that I'm reading such a big book.

I can do that with my library too and its a pretty neat feature, though the selection is not as impressive as the collections in more urban areas. I haven't used it very much in the past few years though. With my business and young family, I don't have a lot of time to read, or a lot of attention left over to keep an eye on due dates. With PaperbackSwap, I only pay the cost of shipping the book, and it's worth it to know that I can read the book at my leisure.
