Yesterday I went to pick up the two apple trees I pre-ordered back when. The ones I was so nervous about. I got those--and bought three more. And I am done! Done I tell you! Except maybe another peach... I got a Comice pear, a 3-in-1 Pluot tree, and a Frost peach. Trees in hand, I picked up 4yo from my mother in law, and she took us out to lunch. I heard the storm had really stirred up the ocean, so we went to a restaurant with an oceanside view and watched the big waves smash on the black rocks while eating nummy fish n' chips and then went for a chilly stroll on the empty pier. The small harbor was empty of boats. They've all moved into the bay or onto land for the winter probably. On the way out we saw an intrepid ocean kayaker launch from the tiny rock beach. The ocean is lovely, but it definitely has my respect, big and cold and deadly.

I love watching the ocean after a storm. It's very centering, to use a very silly phrase that seem to fit anyway!

It is wonderful. Whenever I am trying to calm myself, I picture the surf. :) Stormy oceans are definitely awe inspiring.

A fine day - horticulture, family, cuisine and scenery - put that in memories.

That sounds like a nice bunch of fruit trees. Good luck with them!
