It actually stopped raining long enough for A and the boys to have some Jedi battles in the back yard, and for me to plant some of my tree purchases. I planted two peaches, the pluot, and three pears. Now I just need to plant the apples. I told A's Italian grandma about my tree purchases, and she confessed that she would dearly like to have a fig tree again, you know, the green ones that are red inside? and that she had a gopher cage ready to go. Of course I went right out and bought one. It was purely self-serving, I'm afraid. The nursery employee went out into the yard with me with a flashlight.

I was dropping off a tub some months ago, and one of my clients had a ring tone that was a frog chorus. I've coveted it every since. A set one up for me today. I thought he would go find a ringtone. Instead he used a recording of our native chorus frog. Awwww!! Now my phone sounds like this:

Now it just remains to be seen whether this will successfully wake me in the middle of the night.

Oh figs, we have three fig trees/bushes, just let you know they grow and grow large. And squirrels, birds and rabbits love them.

Yes, that would wake me alright. :) I suppose cats have a long history of being able to wake sound sleepers. That would be incentive to pick the phone up quickly.

Do you enjoy eating the fruit? I've never had a fresh fig.

Not really, I have only ever had it as a jam, who a friend of ours will make once a year. Otherwise we usually give them away or the squirrels will get them. The same goes for the pears, and peacons, espically in the last few years, as my grandfather's health as worsened.

I get to hear the frogs even in the city actually. There's a place nearby with a really low spot that makes seasonal pool. I was really surprised the first time I heard them. If someone would hurry up and call me, I will hear them all year now. ;)

That'd be relaxing enough to send me to sleep. I need a ringtone that hits me on the head and throws water in my face.

You're right. It's more of a lullaby than a call to action. Unless one is a female frog.
