Digging Dog

Annie's Annuals and all these assorted excursions into civilization have lately made me bold. A local garden writer mentioned a fine selection to be found through Digging Dog Nursery, and a perusal of their website revealed that they are not only in my neck of the woods (more or less) but they're going to be having a Fall Sale/Open House--I'm gonna go! Not only asters, but many varieties of those agastache plants I like so much are to be seen there in the phloem. Maybe I live far from anywhere, but these folks take it to a whole new level; they're on what's known as the 'Lost Coast'. I'm looking forward to a spectacular but twisty drive through the Mendocino Range on 'highways' that are not always paved. Thankfully, A has the constitution of an astronaut.

We have four cats 2 outdoor and 2 indoor/outdoor but the birds tend to ignore them. And the cats are so well-fed they rarely even chase the birds.

I've never seen that plant and 7 ft is daunting! How tall is your plant?

Mine is young, and seems to have a very strong prey drive. Already she seems a bit lazier though. :)

It's really a shrub. My variety of it can get to at least 20 ft and perhaps almost as wide. Mine used to reach the gutters of the house. Frost and unwise pruning greatly reduced it, but it's a tropical plant that grows fast. The regrowth is a probably at 6-7 ft now. It's clearly an old plant The crown is probably 2.5 feet in diameter and has the stumps of many thick trunks that have been cut in the past.
