I've seen 'Community' crop up here and there on my flist. I asked A to download the pilot and episode 2. I'm a little underwhelmed, but shows can take time to find their stride. Does it get better, and if so, when?

Vampire Diaries continues to be fun. Damon is some fraction as much fun as Spike, yet I'm not emotionally invested in him so I can just enjoy the pending drama, and regular shirtlessness, as he goes off of the rails. A and I were comparing watching as it is produced with watching after the fact and being able to watch as many eps as one has time or desire for (as we did with all of Buffy, often watching into the small hours (I am ashamed)). A asked me if I would be concerned about spoilers if we saved VD episodes and watched them all at the end of the season. No! Spoilers are not an issue with Vampire Diaries. Think about it. Example: 'Elena and Damon burn up the screen with hawt, sweaty [completely illegal] sex.' This tells me nothing. It could have been a dream, a flashback, Elena's evil twin Katherine... Example: 'Elena and Stefan are quits!!' *pffft* I don't know from one episode to the next what is the status of those two. They're broken up 4EVRRR OMG, they're smooching and lovey, they're not broken up but they're pretending to hate each other... the list goes on and on; I don't try to keep track. The point: any spoiler regarding those two is only valid for approximately 20 minutes.

I'm a new convert to Community. It does start a little "meh" but they find their feet midway though the first season. It's really grown on me!

I might try skipping ahead. :)

Totally on both points. Plus you've got Jeremy and Bonnie, Alaric and Jenna, Caroline and Matt to try and sort out from week to week. All silly fun and a heaping dose of Elijah now and then.

Another class of useless spoiler: Character Y is DED!! *shrug* Who hasn't been dead on that show, frankly? It never lasts. (Unless it's one of Jeremy's girlfriends.)

Community starts out slow but around the time that Troy and Abed start doing little meta bits right at the end of the show is when it hits its stride and becomes brilliant.

Whatever you do, don't miss Modern Warfare. It's the 23rd episode of the 1st season and until season 2 when they came out with the zombie episode, the D&D episode, the stop motion animation Christmas episode, and Annie's stolen pen episode it was one of the best sitcom episodes of all time.

Ah.....I have the four books this series was based on. Love them to pieces. They're in very tattered condition from how many times I read them. Plus I've had them since I was a young teen. Never saw the show based on them though. I think the purist in me would scream at all the changes they made....

BTW, L.J. SMith's the forbidden game was also good. Hot, misunderstood thought to be evil guy (A shadowman!) wanting the innocent heroine to stay with him in her world, and forcing her and her friends to play his games in order to capture her....so good...

I remember looking for Forbidden Game fanfic...found one or two smutty ones....L.J. Smith good scenarios but woefully g rated since they were books for young adults. *pouts*

I never got a comment notification for this! And I don't seem to be getting any right now. I will look for the books. :)

Awesome for you trying the books! :) There';s a scene near the end of the first Forbidden Game where it looks like the baddy Julian has won. It actually makes me think of Lotor and Allura, cause the heroine pulls a fast one on the baddy (Sadly.).

ANd boo hiss about failed notification systems. But I'm glad you did get to see my comment after all! :D
