You know how I like to tattoo everything but myself? My garage needs a ancient central asian tattoo!. I think that non-working door is a blank canvas that just cries out for a mural. Plus, while we were working back there, I heard one of the guys in the apartment building across the alley complaining about the restraining order that his girlfriend got against him for no reason at all! I'll bet he needs cheering up. A beautiful mural would be just the thing, plus I can tell that he likes tattoos. One of his tatts was the letters F.I.A. I'll bet that stands for Feminism Is Awesome!

That's super kewl and neat-o -- is there a special meaning?

Any special powers in it to keep Mr. "F.I.A" Neighbor* far, far away?

The culture is long lost, so your guess is as good as another's. The animals seem a little fantastic, the stag seems to have a bird's head. Some people think the flourishes on the points of his antlers are also bird heads. Maybe a spirit guide or totem?

LOL! And let it be so!

I was just now reading about the central asian mummies; I literally clicked here from a site about them. Fascinating!

I do like that tattoo though; I think it could be a cool garage decoration!

I actually can't think of what else FIA might stand for; clearly I lead a more sheltered life that I realized...

That is quite the coincidence! I've actually been looking for this design on and off since 1996 when I saw it in a National Geographic. There wasn't much information and for some reason I thought it was from one of the druid bog mummies, so I've been searching fruitlessly in the wrong culture. There's something about it that I really find appealing.

I don't know what it stands for either, so perhaps it's just something personal and benign...

Well maybe not such an odd coincidence; NOVA was about Otzi the ice mummy, and I googled, and drifted. I've always been a little fascinated by mummies. I blame my dad, who took me to see King Tut at an early age :D

But I remember that national geographic!

Well, just that we were both researching ice mummies tonight. :) Mary Roach's book on Cadavers (Stiff) had an interesting section on mummies, IIR.

Do you! It might have helped if what I had seen was the original article, but I only saw a picture someone had sent to the magazine of their own tattoo they had gotten after admiring the ice maiden's.
