Potential New Pets
Nov. 30th, 2011 11:20 pmThe Mister made parakeet gravy. Long ago on the radio I heard a woman talking, a teacher. One of her students had given her a pair of parakeets, or perhaps they had been classroom pets. Either way, she found that she was never quite able to be parakeet free after that because she would take pity on the surviving parakeet whenever one would pass away, and get them a new companion. In our case, the mashed potatoes and stuffing always outlive the first batch of gravy, necessitating the preparation of another batch, which then outlives the mashed potatoes...
The potential new pets are compost worms which make 'tea' rather than gravy. Vermicomposting is what the cool garden geeks were doing about a decade ago, but I've never been willing to shell out $80 to $150 for a plastic worm ranch. Just for grins I put a 'wanted' posting on Craigslist offering $25 dollars for one, and I got a response! Tomorrow, I'm going to go check it out.
Today was clear and the boys talked me into the beach. 8yo looked adorable splashing around with bare legs on the bottom and a parka on top. It was exhilarating just to watch. Clear skies also means it may freeze. I need to go out in the damp/cold/dark and bring in my tender succulents or cover them. Bah!
Has anyone seen Hugo? Is it any good? I liked Arthur Christmas. Tin Tin is a must see, though it seems like Spielberg hasn't made a good fiction movie in about 30 years. I can't seem to quit going to see his flicks just in case it's another Raiders.
Happy December to you all! :) In honor of that month of shopping I give you Weird Al and 'Ebay'.
