Zachary Quinto and Benedict Cumberbatch in the same movie? Fighting? (Could there be oil involved?) If only it were Sherlock and Spock, Clash of the SuperNerd Titans. *sighs* A girl can hope.

I must concede that the reboot, fun as it is, lacks even a whiff of the classic sci-fi-style political commentary, and speculation about future tech that characterized the original series.


I need to get off of LJ and take my car-full to the Goodwill. This weekend I borrowed a pick-up and cleaned out my ex-step-dad's storage unit with the help of the Mister. Ex-Step-Dad's not well enough to do it on his own, and it's very satisfying to get it taken care of because I know it was weighing on his finances. I sent the kids to my mom's with a neighbor kid thrown in for good measure. Between condoling with grandma, delivering tubs, giant volunteer projects, and dealing with the 30-days notice that my tenants gave on Wednesday things have been quite hectic. I'm looking forward to calmer times.

Benedict and Zachary should be great eye candy, but that's pretty much how I felt about the re-boot - glossy and fun, but not much substance. I hope there's a bit more depth in the next movie.

Yes, that would be sweet. I enjoy the movie for what it is, but the first time I saw it I was disappointed. I had seen the trailer and was expecting there to be some sort of actual conflict behind all the glaring and posturing.

I just love Benedict Cumberbatch pretty much any way I can get him. He's going to Smaug (well, Smaug's voice!) in the new Hobbit movie too!

::nods:: However that isn't always a completely bad thing; I remember the one with the people who were black on one side of their bodies, and white on the other. And their terrible oppressors who had the colors reversed. Even as a kid that one made me roll my eyes!

Have fun at goodwill. I need to haul some stuff over myself; it's been in a bag in my garage for a couple of months. I keep forgetting!

Yes! I can't wait! He's going to be the voice of 'the sorcerer' or something like that, also. I think it's Sauron as he was at that time, but I'm not sure.
