My Minecraft-obsessed young'uns were terribly impressed with the real-life pick-axe that I brought home from the rental place. I also learned how to use a post-hole digger. I have cut down a tree, dug post holes until I struck water, and today I carted home heavy lumber and sacks of concrete, all in pursuit of a new 4X24 foot gardening area with southern exposure. Is this sane? I don't know, but I do know I'm going to garden the heck out of it. There will be armloads of gorgeous dahlias and other flowers this summer, perhaps some veggies. It's going to be very cool. I'm going to grow some flowering climbers on the new fence that hummingbirds like, like Asarina and I've been wanting to try Leycesteria formosa.

Our clearance garden as I like to call it is going into it's second spring and is coming along nicely. People will actually stop and comment on it, which has never happened before. I planted some gladius blubs yesterday, I don't think dirt and bugs is really my thing, but I bought them so I had to plant them. If half of them live, I will be happy. I know they are hardy things. The Japanese myrtles and the tea hybnd roses have survived, minus one three dollar rose bush from last year. So five out of six isn't bad. I bought some more clearance rose bushes and hope to find some more. I really love tea hybrid roses, they are hardy as all heck. And we have honeysuckle growing on the patio. I did buy this double flowering cherry tree from this nursery and was wondering if you have ever bought from them before and if you have had planted flowering cherry trees. I got for around 32 dollars with a my 20 dollar discount and my neighbor has one and I have always loved it. Here is the link to it, http://springhillnursery.com/product.asp?pn=84513
I have another discount where I can get 25 off 50, or 100 off 200. I was wondering if this a good nursery. I know this kind of cherry tree can go for a lot more than what I am paying. Also if you do have a TSC near you keep an eye out for half dead looking plants they will immediately take half off just to get rid of them. Thanks for you any help, and I hope your chicken project is going well. Or least your mother's hens are doing well.

Pfft, sanity is overrated. Dahlias and veggies will make wonderful additions to your already luffly gardens, my dear. I can't wait for the pictures! *hopeful face* :D

Hi!! I've heard we regret the things we don't do. :) Whenever I hear that, I can't help but think of acts that would be utterly regrettable, but I'm happy to apply it to this case.

I will start pics soon. There's actually some blooming going on. :)

Excellent! I'm looking forward to seeing the blooms- and the works in progress, too! :)
