I raided the roadside this weekend. Foxglove, columbine, delphinium, iris, violets and the odd gopher transplanted daffodil, all set off by ferns, the damn roadsides are like gardens around here. I got a big ol' second-year foxglove and a columbine (all poisonous actually, oops ate lunch w/out washing my hands, living on the edge, that's me). Speaking of living on the edge, I took Alan out for an hour or so of driving practice while Connor napped. The life or death situation forged deep, unspeakable bonds between us and so... the crankiness comes to an end.

Grrrrr! I lost my check card, had to call and cancel for the second time in about a month. I hate it when I feel like I shouldn't be allowed out-of-doors. I need to contact a bunch of folks now [AGAIN] and transfer them to a different card. Grrr! *smack* *smack* *smack*

Speaking of self-flagellation, saw a movie about the Marquis de Sade. I feel as if I've seen Kate Winslet's breasts just a little too often now, for our degree of acquaintance, certainly I've seen her lose her virginity a few too many times. Hmmm.

Alan was doing the practice. He's never had a license, been commuting on his bike all these years. Circumstances have changed however, he's not happy about it, but he's doing it.

Are rhodies really native? They're rampant in the UK I know. Anyway, the columbines and iris are natives, the foxglove and daffodils are feral, and I'm not sure about the violets.

How do ya like my new userpic? I found a copy of Dragonflight with that hideous cover art in WA a few months ago and couldn't resist. :)

I'm pretty sure rhodies aren't natives, but azaleas are, and they're closely if not directly related to rhodedendrons. I could easily be wrong; I wouldn't be at all surprised if rhodies are native, although the many different colors with huge exploding flowers were probably developed by humans. Locally plant-knowledgeable people (or, as a last resort, books) will have better information on the subject than I.

Yeah, that picture brought back all kinds of amusing memories. :D It looks like the dragon just coughed up an orange...
