9YO was at home sick, I arrived at Great Grandma's to find that she hadn't eaten all day, 11YO needed to be picked up from Jujitsu. The Mister calls, "The hospital wants you to pick up the tub. They said it's leaking pretty heavily." Yay. I picked up 11YO, dropped him at Great Grandma's with the promise of take-out when I returned and continued on to the hospital. There was unexpected good news. The tub was not leaking at all. The actual problem was that none of the drains in that labor suite were working. By doubling up the hoses, getting in everyone's way and only using a single pump which means it took twice as long, I was able to drain the tub to the scrub sink in the hall. By 11 PM, the tub was picked up, the take out was consumed, and I took 11YO home with me in the drizzle. I was tired, but still I went outside. Outside to face the carnage. It was good that I did. The slugs and snails were holding a 'Farewell to Spring' block party due to the unseasonable wet. A brown slug as big around as my thumb was well on his/her way to eating one of my newly planted dahlias to the ground. Many sunflower seedlings were already gone. None of my other plants require this sort of heroism, but newly sprouted dahlias and seedlings of all kinds can disappear overnight. I filled a big container with land molluscs who won't be bothering my garden again.

Yesterday we did nothing in particular except take the kids to see Battleship and continue our rewatch of Castle season 1. Battleship was actually a lot of fun. I thought its fun quotient was greatest at the beginning, but it was quite entertaining and the kids loved all the explosions. 11YO immediately set his wallpaper to a pic of a battleship, and 9YO joked that he wants save up his allowance so he can buy one.

And now the sun is shining, the kids are at grandma's and I hope to share pics of the new cat/path/fence/land grab/new planting beds projects soon. Hope you all are well.

I just wonder what the neighbors think I'm doing creeping about with a flashlight at that hour!

Sounds like a busy day!

And i'm jealous of your dahlias. So worth picking off the land mollusks to see!

I think it's worth it too! I can't wait for bloom season to start.
