Rode the 20 mile ride in the Tour of the Unknown Coast last weekend, made the news, Connor's first time on tv. My poor whisker biscuit has still not forgiven me. "You're supposed to stand up on the pedals sometimes and give it a rest." Now he tells me, I thought you were just supposed to persevere. I guess I don't usually ride that far on the road, and when you're off-road you have to do lots of standing up anyway. It was a beautiful ride, but kind of depressing. I saw lots of calves closed up in dusty little paddocks together away from their mothers, can't have them drinking the milk. Hard to say whether they're better or worse off than the bull calves. Guess it depends on whether the particular dairy rancher shoots the males or sells them to veal ranchers. *sigh* I really ought to quit dairy stuff.
Episode II was actually good! Yay! We're definitely not in the big city anymore. Alan was the first person in a line of 4. When we exited the show at 9:10, it was a bit of a shock to see most of the lights out and the concessions shut down. At the shiny-new 24-plex we used to favor, there would be shows starting every 20 minutes until midnight. Not that I have any desire to wait in a huge line or walk a half mile to my car. My only real complaint about the movie was the part when the furry monster managed to bare Natalie's midriff, it was so INCREDIBLY CLICHED. Anakin loses a limb without baring an inch. I don't care if they show skin, and I don't have any particular desire to see the hide of any of the males in that particular flick, but I think there should be equal time. Ah well, any other movie and it would have been ripped off-the-shoulder too.
Got my application to the post office on time. I hope they don't compare it to my previous submission. I pulled a certain quantity of the information out of my butt and failed to photocopy it before submitting it. I mean, am I really supposed to remember what month in 1993 I started my job at HSC Software? Perhaps some people are on the ball enough to write this stuff down, but I'm apparently not one of them. When you pull stuff out of your butt twice you invariably come up with different... ah, stuff. I think the dates probably vary a bit, and the monthly salaries also. I tried to calculate them from my tax returns, but promotions and raises weren't generally tidily arranged that way. At least I fabricated the same supervisor name on both. (It's a short but worthless story.)
