New Thing(s) I Learned: Evolutionary theory is a very active branch of science. I have admit that I kinda thought: 'Random variation, survival of the fittest (on average), hashed it all out in the late 1800's, yup.' but far from it. How random is variation, really? To what extent is variation constrained by existing structure, and how does that effect... Well, anyway, Steve Irwin is making a 'Croc Hunter' movie. Ohhhhhh my.

Day 7 Fish issues are definitely lack of oxygen as it's worst in the morning and then goes away later. Green water has not returned, yay! Should have redone my filtration yesterday to provide some surface agitation, but didn't get around to it. Better get off my butt today.

I'm hoping to put this fish tank stuff together into a website, in case my flounderings might be helpful to others. Watched some of the 'commentary' on Sense and Sensibility, very enjoyable. Failed to listen to my instincts and rented Kate and Leopold, *blah!* Alan took the lecture out of my Stephen Jay Gould CD-Rom, which was designed to run on Windows95, and did some sort of computer magic to it, and now it is on a CDR. He loves me!

Our neighbor, (Abraham like the patriarch) is a little singular. He doesn't get garbage collection, neither does he receive phone service. He's very quiet, works five days a week, rarely has visitors, except his parents who have a big vinyl sign on the back of their SUV that says: 'Jesus is coming Are you ready?'. Of course, he may think we're a bit odd too, as we have no discernable schedule. I hope we don't disturb him too much. It's a new experience for me to be the noisy neighbor. I'm much more used to being the uptight wench next door that doesn't want anyone to have fun

I miss the Fort Vancouver Regional Libary. I've placed a hold on a SJG lecture they have in their collection. I hope it has made it to the White Salmon branch by the time we get up there. Need to check out the library at HSU. It probably is much better than the County Library, but can I check stuff out? I saw some things that looked interesting in the literature section at Waldenbooks, but I abstained because I figured that I could peruse the literature section at the Booklegger and find the same stuff as this is the sort of thing that more folks are compelled to purchase than develop a burning desire to keep in their collections. I was mistaken. I was unable to find any of the things that I had coveted at Waldenbooks, but I was intrigued by the more egalitarian way in which the Booklegger classifies books. The literature section was not just dead white guys with a dribble of dead British chicks, and since I hadn't bothered to remember the authors or titles that had caught my eye, I was unable to find them amid the vastly wider selection.

I guess I'm infamous at the gym. Mom met with her new personal trainer the other day, and she said that the personal trainer knew who I was. I seem prone to that, not at gyms, but in general. I apparently bemuse the personnel with my aerobics class of one. It took me a couple of weeks to work up the guts to start doing it in the small studio. It's not easy being singular. Abetted by growing confidence, I have been lured into the big studio by the large fan available in there.
