The sun was shining and the air was still yesterday morning so I convinced Alan to play hooky and we drove out to Centerville beach. The surf was huge and wild. It was kinda creepy the way it would be all slick and green and heaving like there was something huge out there and then the waves would start to curl and break.
Aquarium cleaning and haircuts and ebay shipping on the agenda today. The plants seem to be holding in there. Yay! It's not algae free, but I'm just happy everything's still alive. The day after I planted everything, the fish were gasping at the surface in the morning. I thought this was just because of the plants. (Plants only consume CO2 and produce O2 when they are photosynthesizing, in the dark they breath like everything else.) But I happened to check the temp and it was 82, a few degrees away from fish chowder w/ greens. I remove the heater, and replace it with one from my stash that is technically too low-powered. Then the power goes out for 12 hours. House temp drops to 60, afraid to look at the tank temp. But everything is still alive so far.
