New Thing(s) I Learned: We can't remember things very well before we are 3 or 4 because the structures in the brain that transfer short term memories to long term ones do not mature before this time.
The car repairs that I estimated $400 for are at $1300 and they won't have the car back to me until Monday at the earliest. So much for financial optimism. I bought the wrong used car and to some extent I'm still paying. The car would have needed maintenance regardless, but, being a bucket of corrosion issueing from Chicago, they are worse than they would otherwise be. Note to self: Do not purchase a vehicle at night in a rain storm. One the upside, the projector is apparently being repaired as I type for less than I budgeted. Yay!

Aidan is very cute. I'm definitely in love. The soles of his feet are so soft and smooth that when they have slipped over my skin in bed at night, I've mistaken them for water mysteriously running over my skin. I love his milky smell, I deliberately plant my nose on him and suck it up. I like falling asleep with his warm little body pressed around the curve of my belly. It definitely gives me the feeling that all is right in my world. If his peaceful sleep is any indicator, he feels the same. I love his awkward, but enthusiastic smiles. Yah, babies grab onto social skills early, survival and all that, don't want to piss off the wrong clan member. Apparently, because they are acquired so early they get hardwired in. Alzheimer's patients, even after they've reached the point when they can do little else, can still smile, and close a phone conversation with the proper phrases.

Connor is finally pretty over his fear of getting soap in his eyes. It's partly my fault, and I'm glad to be able to help him get over it too. He actually played with the soap paints in the shower last night. It was fun, we decorated the shower in green and purple, but the stuff smelled very much like a dentist's office. *shrug* One of his new things is arranging his hair. The other night he arranged mine in the shower using a rubber fish in each hand, very serious expression on his face.
