The daffodils are taunting me. They're everywhere blooming, big buttery masses of them. They are blooming in the middle of fields and and on freeway verges. Why I can't grow them to save my life is a mystery I've not yet solved. Maybe next year. Yesterday it was hard to get going, but I mowed the rental's lawn and weeded the flower bed. As I fed and mulched my blueberries I first noticed that I was feeling better. It felt like I was doing something normal for the first time in a month, as opposed to responding to the urgent, unexpected, or both. Speaking of which, the new cat was a fail. Jones began territorial spraying that night, triggering an immediate return trip for the new kitty. 9YO took it well, thankfully, but I still felt bad for all concerned. I promised to try again with a kitten in a few months.

I made the mistake of returning the email of a Craigslist spammer. Now my junk folder is full of emails from women who found my bowfront dresser mysteriously sexy. "Is your thing still offered? Umm...this might be strange but you seem attractive in your ad." At least I'm finding them entertaining. Now I only respond to inquiries by phone. Speaking of phone, Google Voice was a godsend in finding new tenants. I could set it so that it only rang my home phone during certain hours, and once the place was rented I set it to go straight to a message to that effect. Plus the free, easy long distance made the process a lot easier and cheaper. Yay!

Speaking of 'yay,' the Mister and I have been unwinding with the first two seasons of Downton Abbey. I'm addicted. The first episode makes it seem like it's going to be more Hollywood than it is. As it turns out, the characters don't have big plans and then deal with the fall out (chain Buffy in my crypt and threaten her until she likes me, cast a love spell so Cordelia will suffer for dumping me, consult Spike about Slayer weaknesses). The characters are much more reactive and the pace is slow, but I like them, and they're a fine way to end a day of showing rentals/wrangling kids/attending funerals/cleaning out storage units.
