Rare Albino Hummingbird
Dec. 4th, 2012 09:09 amJust as advertised.
In other news, the Mister and I are attending a LOtR extended edition marathon this weekend, and have our midnight show tickets in hand for the Hobbit. I've also begun reading the Hobbit to the kids so I can be all nerdy about what's changed cuz I clearly need additional nerdiness. In other news, I've been plotting the death of the Mister's business line. A while back some telemarketing robo-caller was ringing it at 3 in the morning. Every morning. Sometimes more than once. Argh. And I can't turn the ringer off at the base for some unknown reason, only the handsets. Argh!! My current plan is to get a second personal line, port his business number to Google Voice and then set it to forward only during waking hours. Of course my own business line often rings at 3 in the morning, which is perhaps why I treasure it so when it doesn't ring.

Our phone ringer doesn't turn off at all. Unfortunately our friends don't seem to remember that we all live in different time zones! It's a problem during baseball season (Beer + great game = after 11 PM phone calls). Who even makes phones that can't shut up? We actually didn't notice until we'd had them for nearly a year, so the other question is who even buys a phone that can't be shut off?

Date: 2012-12-04 09:35 pm (UTC)And honestly? Your plan for the weekend sounds pretty much perfect to me! A friend and I are trying to figure out if we can justify leaving her kiddos with her husband that evening and going ourselves or if going with her husband is a marital obligation. He's a great guy but not a fantasy movie fan!
You could get a phone that does turn off at the base. It sounds to me like it might be worth it!

Date: 2012-12-05 07:04 am (UTC)I'll probably be dragged along to see the Hobbit on opening night, or soon after. I'm not that huge a fan myself, although I can't deny that I'm interested in the movies... because Smaug, also shut up. Besides, Smaug isn't going to be in the first movie at all, and probably not the second, so I'm kind of "enh" about them. My squee will start when the third comes out. And when I start seeing screencaps/publicity pics. GIMMIE MY DRAGON DAMMIT.

Date: 2012-12-05 11:19 pm (UTC)I want a magnificent dragon, but Smaug is an evil, decrepit, hanging-on-way-past-his-prime dragon. I'll expect the Gollum of dragons, and maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised by a whif or more of grandeur.
