It's history day. Today I helped select some junior high history projects for a prize sponsored by my local League of Women Voters. I like to visit the university campus, it's beautiful and chock full of youthful energy, plus it's always a good workout as the whole thing's perched on the side of one of the coastal foothills. That done, I visited 90YO, got her fire going and fetched her mail and her paper. One of the local health foody stores sells Annie's Annuals. On the way home I bought four hardy annuals. So much for Winter. Last week it froze, this week everything's in bud and bloom. Fine by me. I took my plants outside to put them in the ground, became utterly intimidated and abandoned the project for another day. What if they don't grow? What if nothing grows??? I'll get over it. Plus it's clear that I really need the overhaul the whole shebang for Spring. Divide perennials, move things around, fertilize.

"We're very much still in winter here", she types while wrapped in a wool blanket. ::shivers::

And I'm pretty darn jealous of gardening! It'll be several months before I get to do that!

It's pretty nippy here, too. That's part of what chased me inside. But I guess the plants know something I don't.
