Soo tired!

I did the Avenue of the Giants Marathon yesterday. Wow, handing out water and Gatorade for hours is pretty tiring when you are standing on concrete the entire time. And all of the squatting for picking up cups and wrappers? Still, the air down in the southern part of the county is just intoxicating, and the spectacularly out-of-human-scale redwood trees were all cathedral-like and awesome [ETA: you can see them in After Earth!]. As always, I'm glad the kids got me out for an adventure, and we all had a great time. Handing out water at a marathon is something like going out and giving water to the people in the stocks in Medieval times. Very satisfying, they are SO VERY grateful, yet with the modern twist that the torturees are all willing participants, and you get a free t-shirt.

Did I mention that 10YO got a 1st place medal at his first Jujitsu tournament? We were all thrilled! He also graduated to an orange belt recently, as has 12YO, very proud of them both. I'm working with 7YO on tying his own belt, just in case his first belt promotion comes along soon.

This April has been bizarrely dry and sunny, and my three tub reservations for the end of the month have not gone through, so I've been spending my time obsessing, digging, planting and watering, and getting dragged to the beach by the kids, meanwhile the house is like something in Ugly House Photos. Belloq is receiving a second round of ear mite treatment. I felt like such a horrible bully applying the medicine this morning. *shudders*

Iron Man III was OK. It failed to transcend its genre much, but was a fair example of the type.

What a fantastic setting for a marathon and i like your take on the participants. I used to run when I was a teenager and I never got to the point where it wasn't torture!

Congratulations to your 10 and 12 year olds' orange belts.
