The car has been retreived for a total of $1743.89. I think they only quit because they were embarrassed to keep calling me with new stuff. "Good luck! Just don't use the emergancy brake OK?", they said. Never, ever buy a car in the dark, in a rainstorm, the undercarriage of which has not been inspected by a mechanic.
Presents yesterday! My romance novels came AND the projector. The status thing on their webpage said it was still being repaired, but I'm pleased they put their energy into turnaround time rather than keeping their site updated. AND it's fixed! Yay!
Finished Best American Essays. Very thought provoking. The one about Timothy McVeigh was interesting. The author suspected a possible FBI conspiracy to blow up their own building because few ATF or FBI agents had come to work that day. Personally, if I was an ATF or FBI employee, I wouldn't have been anywhere near a federal building on the 2 year anniversary of Waco. Could that be an... alternate explanation? To bad the kids in the daycare center weren't similarly aware of the date. Interesting point though: if other countries have children in government installations they're referred to as 'human shields'. Timothy McVeigh apparently claims he was not aware of the presence of children in the building, but that it wouldn't have mattered. War is war and he had a job to do. We trained him to think that way, although perhaps he didn't need any help.
