It was 10:30 or so. I was about to retire to a hot bath, after a very long day, with a glass of cold water and the latest Harry Potter, when the electricity shut off. Ahead of me, in the bathroom, Connor starts screaming in terror. Call it instinct or whatever, but this made me move forward with much more speed than caution. Wham! Nose first right into the door jamb. Crash! Splash! There goes the water. Not even slowed down, I careen off the closet door. Thud! There goes the book. The stars on the ceiling of the bedroom flash past on my right and I know I am almost there. Got him. I cuddle a sobbing Connor, while Alan goes to switch the electricity back on. So much for my bath. But the next day was a little better. They fixed the electricity. I can use the dryer again. It was one of those days where I made another mess every time I cleaned one up, but I didn't slam nose first into any immovable objects.
Harry Potter was a little disappointing. It started way too slow. Rowling has become too powerful for editing perhaps. I think, if I were to read the book to a child I would be inclined to skip most of the first third. And there was nothing really new and exciting. In the previous books it seemed like there were some new good running jokes and a few interesting new characters, but that wasn't so much the case this time. Harry will either have to kill Voldemort or be killed by him? That's a news flash. I was hoping for more interesting revelations than that. Killing Sirius? Kill off Ron, kill off Hagrid, Harry's got plenty of friends, it wasn't nice to kill off his only 'relative'.
