I recently posted the first part of my babyfic at [livejournal.com profile] seasonal_spuffy I get from the air of apology in some of the comments that babyfic is the red-headed stepchild of Spuffy. Maybe even the red-headed stepchilde. So what if Buffy barely knows one end of an infant from the other and Spike probably just looks at 'em and thinks 'Yum!'.

Maybe babyfic readers need a safe, supportive place to congregate. Babyfic Readers Anonymous (BRA) OK, lame.

Heh! I adore babyfic--when it's done well. It can be cloying and saccharine and barf-inducing--and it is in most cases. But when done well, there are gooey rewards and sighs of satisfaction.

Go read my babyfic!

You wrote babyfic! I must've read it but don't remember it so it's the next best thing to new. Link please.

Crossing Shadow River is the babyfic!

And also in my last Christmas story, Hot Springs Eternal....

Cool! Will do. That's part of what I love about Herself's Spuffy. It's so angsty and well written, yet everyone once in a while...

:D Can you imagine? The babyfic ficathon?

Fandom is an odd and wonderful thing. Threesomes cool! Slash even better! I think I even saw an incest ficathon a while ago. I know I saw a male pregnancy parody one. But most of the good writers would steer clear of the babyficathon out of sheer embarrassment.

So true. It takes real guts to not be avant garde. ;)

It's just that there's so much bad babyfic out there--fic that's not just cloying and saccharine, it turns Buffy into a Pod Mommy, and if the kids are allowed to get old enough to talk, they're invariably impossibly cute, brilliant, superpowered, and talk like the twee forty-year-old midgets that most TV sitcom writers replace actual children with.

Most babyfic makes me cringe. And yet I keep reading it anyway, on the off chance something good will turn up.

Me too. Hope springs eternal. I find I have a high tolerance for bad fiction, in any case. If I like the story and it moves well, I don't particularly care if someone occasionally garnishes someones attention rather than garnering it. Or if there are adverbs everywhere, or the prose is so purple it's almost beyond the visible spectrum.

I'm not sure who said what, but I'm always up for some good babyfic. I read the first part and liked it a lot, and came here looking for the rest. Is there a rest? You didn't let a few comments discourage you, I hope.

I just posted more. :) No bad comments, I just noticed that many people are rather apologetic about liking babyfic, as it has a bit of a reputation.
