I loathe carpet. I despise it with every last ring-spun stain-resistant fiber of my being. It is a safe haven for the slippery products of nearly every bout of nausea, incontinence, or slip-up between cup and lip of kids and pets alike. They disappear into its pile like caravan robbers into the desert. Not even the most diligent efforts can truly clean out its dark recesses. Fleas and mold, damp and dander, I imagine them shooting off their automatic weapons into the air in welcome to one another, drinking round the campfire late into the night, secure from discovery and routing.

Why yes, I am rather strange Cut back? But I don't even drink coffee How are you?

High fives you over this. About a minute after I inherited my house out went the wall to wall.

*nod* I do wish I'd discovered the joys of wooden flooring when small children and kittens were about. *shudders*

Hmmm. I think someone was not having fun being a domestic goddess today.
*hugs you and sends a shop vac operated by a professional!cleaning!hunk!*

I agree wholeheartedly, by the way. I miss the days of my thin pine flooring. *sigh*

Not even gonna ask....

I don't mind carpet in non-food-related rooms. Some people have it in their kitchen/dining room.....and THAT is weird.

I had a bathroom with carpet once. Ew. Fortunately my man is pretty well housebroken, but then my brother... I won't go on.

You hit it on the head, though I don't even remember the details now. Probably just as well. :) Thanks for the hunky wishes. *smooshy hugs*

Wooden flooring! *wants* I think there is redwood plank flooring throughout actually. I just need to move all the furniture, pay for the carpet and padding to be disposed of, refinish it and put all the furniture back. np :)

Yech, I hate wall-to-wall. But we did get rid of ours, mostly, and now have area oriental rugs (much much MUCH nicer) over sections of the wooden flooring.

Problem: all the liquidy accidents you mention are highly deleterious to wooden flooring as well. As I know from personal experience. How to deal? I mean, at least with carpet you can get rid of it ... wooden flooring isn't that simple.

You've got a good point there. I know that moisture and wood floors are not a good mix. I love rugs though.

Tile anyone?
